Sinks Canyon Conservancy
Our Mission
Established in 1997, we are a non-profit organization that promotes and supports the scientific, educational, and cultural programs and projects in and around Sinks Canyon. Our goal is to preserve the unique natural environment and enhance the community's understanding and appreciation of the canyon's ecological significance.
What We Do
We provide oversight and account responsibilities for the Sinks Canyon State Park (SCSP). Additionally, we receive, administer and disburse funds for tax exempt charitable, educational, scientific, itinerary, cultural, recreation and historic purposes. As a part of this work we have contributed to numerous projects within SCSP such as interpretive signage, resource guides, educational curriculum and programming. We have also helped fund scientific studies; such as dye tests in the Popo Agie River, post fire soil stabilization and revegetation projects. Our latest contribution has been an augmented reality sandbox that stimulates watershed dynamics as well as a 3-D map of the canyon.
Who We Work With
In addition to working extensively with Sinks Canyon State Park, we collaborate with Wyoming School Districts, Wyoming Game and Fish, Shoshone National Forest, Bureau of Land Management, Popo Agie Conservation District, Wyoming State Forestry, and the National Outdoor Leadership School.
